Fromer Eye Centers in Bedford is expanding

The Bronx will soon welcome its largest eye surgical center, which hopes to accommodate the increasing demand for eye care in the borough. Fromer Eye Centers in Bedford will soon be expanding, adding about 25 more jobs to the area. The office currently sees 150 more patients a week than it did last year. The location will offer three operating rooms, each with top-of-the-line equipment. Patients will soon have access to more eye care services thanks in part to the Affordable Care Act. “Many of these patients were previously just getting glasses for their eye problems, which certainly isn’t enough,” Dr. Mark Fromer told News 12. “In these neighborhoods, we found an enormous amount of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, cataracts. We have brought an extensive service to the Bronx with many sub-specialists within eye care to serve these populations.” The surgical center will be ready for inspection by January and could open soon after.
