Dr. Rebecca Shields is a board certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma and cataract surgery. Her expertise is in the medical treatment and surgical management of glaucoma, including both laser and incisional surgery. Dr. Shields is trained in the latest and most advanced techniques of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.
Dr. Shields received her undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University with honors. She completed her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and was inducted into the National Medical Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA).
Dr. Shields completed her residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. She then completed her glaucoma fellowship training at The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
Her publications include topics such as pediatric glaucoma, intracranial hypertension, and epidemiology of disease. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences and remains active in the glaucoma community. Dr. Shields is dedicated to providing excellent care and ensures that she understands the needs of her patients to offer the best treatment and experience possible.
